Rutherford "Butch" LeRoy Jones, Jr.

Mr. Rutherford “Butch” LeRoy Jones, Jr. 73, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026 at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor James Bledsoe officiating.  Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors being presented by Randolph County Honor Guard.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Rutherford and Mable Nelson Jones.

Butch was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending his time fishing whenever given the opportunity.  He also spent his free time reading novels, watching movies, and enjoying NASCAR.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired from Gilbarco with more than 40 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 35 plus years, Kathy Thompson Jones; daughter, Jennifer Farris (Mitch); son, Kristopher Jones (Kathy); eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Victor Jones (Sharron); sister, Robin Gaffney; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends whom he loved.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
