Sally Lea (Rummenie) Goin

Sally L. Goin, 63, of Summerfield passed peacefully from this life on Monday, April 26, 2021 with her family by her side. Known as “Fighter 1”, Sally fought a courageous thirteen-year battle with Inflammatory Breast Cancer until her death at Duke University Hospital. The entire Duke team held a special place in Sally’s heart. Sally often said she was so blessed to be living in NC is this time of need and had the best and compassionate caregivers you could ever ask for.

A service to celebrate her life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Centenary United Methodist Church.

Sally was a member at Centenary United Methodist Church where she was an active volunteer including the Community Breakfast at the church. She earned her nursing degree at Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing in Peoria, IL and went on to retire from Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. She had a love for gardening and reading, a love for the mountains, and for her fur babies. Sally loved her grandchildren, and she would Facetime them when they were not able to be together.

Sally is survived by her husband Greg Goin of the home; children, Andy Goin (Julie) of Rochester, NY, Madonna Stamey (Steve) of Greensboro, and Melinda Goin also of Greensboro; sister, Sue Ann Winking (Gary) and brother, Bill Rummenie, III (Debbie) all of Quincy, IL; and her beloved grandchildren, Miles Goin, Weston Goin, and Logan Stamey.
