Shelby Jean Hill

Shelby Jean Hill, 86, went home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 21, 2023 at George Brothers Funeral Service with burial following at Lakeview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born October 2, 1936, she was the youngest daughter of nine children born to Sloane Matthews Hill and Robert Howard Hill, Sr. Shelby had a love for taking care of others making them comfortable. She became a Nurses Aide working at the Polio Hospital of Greensboro, NC in 1955 at the age of 19. After one year Shelby went to Piedmont Memorial Hospital in downtown Greensboro, NC for seven years. Shelby's career took her to Wesley Long Hospital for thirty one years of service retiring in 1998. She was well loved by doctors and the staff there. This did not end Shelby's caregiving years. Shelby took care of her mother and three sisters until their home calling. Shelby loved to read books, had a talent for art but most of all she loved her family dearly. Her nieces and nephews were her joy. Never having children of her own they were her children. Shelby's faith was very strong. She always said the one thing I know I have done right, I know I am saved. I have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior and I know I am going to Heaven. Shelby is survived by her sister Lucille Weekley; her three brothers, David Hill, Eddie Hill, and Jim Hill. Shelby has sixteen nieces and nephews.
