Shirley Mae (Hill) Smith

Shirley Mae Hill Smith, 89, went home to be with her Savior, Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Clapps Nursing Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at George Brothers Funeral Service, with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 am, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith was born February 19, 1935 in Guilford County to the late Lee Hill and Annie Pearl Haithcox Hill.  She graduated from Greensboro High School, and later worked for Southern Bell as a telephone operator.  Mrs. Smith also worked with the Baptist Book Store that is now LifeWay Christian Bookstore.  She was currently a member of Sharpe Road Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Beauford Ray Smith; sister, Ora Lee Benitoa; and brothers, Howard Hill and Paul Hill, Sr.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters, Debbie Roberts (Steve), and Judy Smith-Ballard (Creighton); grandchildren, Christopher H. Roberts, Bryan P. Roberts, and Smith “Alex” Ballard; great-grandchildren, Joshua Roberts and Wesley Roberts.
