Mr. Tex Benson Roberson, 76, of Julian, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Authoracare Collective Beacon Place.
Memorial service will be held 1:00pm Friday, November 22, 2024 at South Elm Street Baptist Church with Dr./Rev. Lawrence Clapp officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm-1:00pm prior to the service at the church.
Tex was born in Vance County, NC to the late Johnny Butler Roberson and Alice Matthews Roberson. He was a member of South Elm Street Baptist Church for over 50 years, and he retired from Cone Mills White Oak Plant as a maintenance supervisor with over 50 years of service. Tex enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking and gardening, and he could always be found watching his favorite show “Gunsmoke” or listening to nearly any type of music. He was lovingly designated as the Mayor of Alamance Estates by his close neighbors. Tex was an animal lover. He loved vacations and eating (especially desserts.) Tex was known for picking up strays (human and animal alike.)
In addition to his parents, Tex is preceded in death by his son Andrew Roberson, sisters Betty Sizemore and Daisy Carlile, and brother Mike Roberson (Linda.)
Surviving are his devoted wife of 55 years Peggy Bower Roberson; daughters Amanda Dillard (Eric) and Ashley Roberson (Matt Davenport); granddaughter Ava Dillard; brother Johnny Roberson (Carole); sisters Pearlie Anderson (Johnnie) and Charlotte Roberson. His adopted neighborhood family and dear friends: Mike and Valerie Pagan and son Logan, Cordie and Diane Ball, Allen McPhearson, Randy Emory, Faith Morphis, Marie Fraizer, and Max and Elaine Layton. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
