Timothy Burton Wood

Mr. Timothy Burton Wood, a beloved father, brother and friend passed away on March 14, 2026, in Greensboro, North Carolina at the age of 76.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 16, 2026, at George Brothers Funeral Service, 803 Greenhaven Drive in Greensboro. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Tim was born on April 18,1949 to the late Jessie and Hilda Wood where he was one of twelve siblings.

He retired from the News & Record after 26 years of service.

Tim’s love for the Lord and sports was obvious to anyone who knew him. He was a diehard fan of the Duke Blue Devils, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Cowboys and any NASCAR driver that drove a Ford.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Stanley Wood.

He is survived by two sons, Alex and Curtis (Susan); brothers, Michael, Joel, and Johnny and sisters, Sylvia Gant and Carolyn Chapman.
