Vincent Joseph “Vinny” Gajewski, 70, of Greensboro went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2022 at AuthoaCare’s Beacon Place.
Funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Gospel Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Luttrell, Jim York, and Dr. Harlie Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Vinny studied at the University of Pennsylvania. He retired from the United States Postal Service. Currently, he is employed by Allied Universal as a security guard at Ruger in Mayodan.
Vinny was a faithful member of Gospel Baptist Church where he was a member of the Berean Bible Study Class. He also had a prison ministry in Guilford County for the past three years. He had the same ministry in Corpus Christi, TX. Vinny loved to study God’s Word. He was forever more studying the Bible. He never missed an opportunity to discuss the Bible further with his Sunday school teacher, Jim York and Dr. Harlie Miller who leads Bible study at the church. Vinny loved his church family and he always said they were a blessing to him. He had a smile for all he met.
Vinny enjoyed fantasy football and fishing. He was a Philadelphia Eagles fan and loved to discuss football with fellow church buddy, Bob Idacavage.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Donna Gajewski of the home; stepsons, Brandon McDaniel (Jenay) of Pleasant Garden, Joshua Hall (Alexandria) and Brian Thornett all of the home; and grandson, Lucas McDaniel of Pleasant Garden; along with special friends, Pam and Kenneth Finney, Tim Voter, and Sandra “Jane” Miller.
Vinny was quick to tell everyone that Jenay McDaniel, whom he loved dearly, was the daughter he never had. He welcomed Alexandria Husfelt into the family with opened arms and love. Vinny spent many days with his grandson, Lucas eating Burger King’s “Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Croissants” at the park and watching him play as they too walked around the park. Those days were filled with love and Vinny treasured these times.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gospel Baptist Church, 5945 N Church Street, Greensboro, NC 27455.
