Virginia Caroline (Byrd) Nelson

Mrs. Virginia Caroline Byrd Nelson, 80, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 at her home.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 2:00 pm at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Steve Roberson officiating.

Virginia deeply loved her husband, along with her children, and grandchildren, both her own and her stepchildren and step-grandchildren; and devoted herself to them.

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Bessie Byrd; stepson, Scotty Nelson; and all seven of her siblings, which she was the last of.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Johnny Nelson; children, Sherry Meyers (Daniel), Judy Wilmoth (Frankie), and Charles Durham; stepchildren, Andy Nelson (Angie), Lori Suits (Mike), and Sherri Nelson; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews which were a huge part of her life and whom she loved dearly; as well as numerous family members and friends whom she loved.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
