Lee Black was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning
of November 11, 2021.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11am, November 24, 2021 at Westover Church. The
family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Lee was born in Camden, New Jersey to the late William Pierce Keating and Helen Virginia
Croker Keating. She attended Westover Church where she helped with Sunday School classes,
assisted with Treehouse after-school tutoring, served as welcome greeter, and participated in
Bible studies. She made several lifelong friends while working for the Wayne County and
Guilford County Health Departments, from which she retired after 36 years of service. Very
soon after retirement, Lee went back to work part time for many years at Hanes Lineberry
Funeral Home.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Bob Black; son, Chris Black and wife, Kim; and
granddaughter, Gabby Black.
Her favorite times were beach trips spent with family and friends at Myrtle Beach, Surfside, and
Oak Island. She had many travel adventures with Bob, including trips to Puerto Rico, Canada,
Florida, Alaska, New York, New Mexico, several New England states, and more than a dozen
river cruises. Lee enjoyed shopping at outlets, beach flea markets, or anywhere she thought
she could get a “barga-barga-bargain!”. She wanted her outfits and everyone she met to be
color coordinated. Her granddaughter, Gabby, was the apple of her eye and she took joy in
watching her play volleyball along with following all of her pursuits. She loved her family and
most of all, her “Sug” – Bob.
A special thank you to Dr. Sherrill, Lisa, Susan, and Kim from Wesley Long Cancer Center for the
care they provided.
