Wanda “Tiny” McBroom Rigsbee, of Greensboro, Formerly of Durham died Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the Hospice Home of High Point.
Wanda was born in Durham, NC July 27, 1934, the daughter of the late Ruth and Charlie McBroom. She was a graduate of Bragtown High School, Watts Hospital School of Practical Nursing and Alamance Community College Associate Degree nursing program. Wanda was a obstetrical nurse with Durham Regional Hospital until her retirement. Following the death of her husband, Leroy, Wanda made her life in Greensboro where she met many longtime friends.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy F. Rigsbee; brother, Sammy and sister, Mickey.
Granny, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, is survived by daughter, Dona George (Kevin Rochford) of Greensboro; grandchildren, including Brittany Tharp and Courtney Murphy of Georgia, and Kristi Genopolos of Greensboro; and great grandchildren including Paul Scott, Peyton, Charlie, Mary and Brett, bonus son Jeff George, bonus daughters Kathy Willard and Kim Stakias, bonus grandsons, Chad Genopolos and Jason Smith, along with special friend, Myra Massaroni.
Funeral will be 3:00 PM Sunday, May 31, 2026 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Chaplain John Connor officiating. A private Committal service will be in Durham, NC at a later date. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
