Wanda Faye Tribble-Smith, better known as MawMaw took her last breath on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the age of 73 with her family by her side.
MawMaw was survived by her son Nicholas Tribble, daughter in-law Laura Tribble, step daughter Laurren Bowman, grandchildren Jacob, and Maiya, bonus grandchildren, Jaden and Ethan, sister in- law Carolyn Tribble, nephew Craig Tribble and her rat-pack Sharon, Sandy, Cheryl, Michelle and Karo.
Wanda was born on May 22, 1951 in South Boston, Virginia to Jessie James Tribble Jr. and Pauline Saunders Bettis. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was the epitome of Love First and gave every ounce of her heart and soul to everyone that she encountered. It was truly a spectacular gift that blossomed beyond measure once she became a MawMaw to her beast, Jacob and butterfly, Maiya.
She was a hippie soul with a mission to raise her only child to be the best version of her. A country lovin southern bell with a Virginia accent. A parrot head that navigated the ebbs and flows of life with pure grace. And a soul sister that let the music frame her mindset and guide her feet.
Wanda made a career in early childhood education for various schools and finished out her working days at The Pavilion where she was able to share her love with many.
The family would like to thank all of you for allowing her to love on you. It made her the happiest version of herself. She loved each and every one of you where you were and never judged. Losing her is hard but it’s the love in our hearts that will carry on her legacy.
We will be celebrating her life on Saturday, July 20 at the Oak Leaf Acre Farm (2525 Huffine Mill Rd, McLeansville, NC) at 5:00 with music, dancing, food and refreshments. It will be a Tribble-Rita-Ville celebration, so come in your best Buffett attire as we know she is shagging with him in heaven as we speak.
In-lieu of flowers, MawMaw would love nothing more than to support the dance community. Please make donations to On Stage School of Dance (www.onstageschoolofdance.com) to benefit their Shining Stars program for the differently-abled dancer.
