Wendy Yvonne (Whitesell) Nelson

Mrs. Wendy Yvonne Whitesell Nelson, 52, of Sophia, passed away on April 28, 2025.

There will be two Celebration of Life services to give everyone an opportunity to attend. The first service will be on Saturday, June 14th, at 5:30 pm at 3341 Roy Farlow Road, Sophia, NC 27350 and the second service will be held on Saturday, June 21, also at 5:30 pm at 487 Melvin Clark Road, Siler City, NC 27344.

Wendy was born in Guilford County on June 19, 1972. She loved her family very much and will always be remembered for the positive impact she had on all of their lives. In addition to her family, she loved traveling to the beach, gardening and growing her flowers, decorating her home for the different holidays and she especially loved to cook any one of her numerous recipes. Wendy also loved to read the Karen Kingsbury books, Christmas and Hallmark Movies. For her comfort, she held close to a doll named “sister”, a doll she has kept since childhood.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Shirley Maness; grandfather, Ray Maness; great grandmother, Mable Stack; aunt, Teresa Norris; paternal grandparents, Bill and Juanita Whitesell and her aunt Diane and uncle Kenneth Whitesell.

Wendy is survived by her husband, David Nelson; her children, Cynthia “Cindy” Medley, Charles “Chuck” Medley, Michael Stanley and Mary Stanley and her parents, Charlie and Sandra Whitesell.
