William Douglas Edwards

Billy Edwards, 79, of Greensboro passed from this life on Monday, August 23, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Community Baptist Church. Committal service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-12:45 PM Saturday at the church prior to the service.

Billy was born in Guilford County to the late Chesley and Grace Edwards. He was a jack of all trades and a retired truck driver. Billy also proudly served with the United States Marine Corps. He was a loving father and brother and the best Paw Paw ever.

Along with his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his brothers, Jr., David, Jimmy, Charles, and Kenney Edwards.

Billy is survived by his son, John Edwards of Thomasville; daughter, Sharon Edwards of Greensboro; grandchildren, Holden Ellis (Christine Thomas), Christina Edwards Causey (Bill), Jessica Edwards, Travis Edwards, and Chasity Abuadas (Ahmad); great grandchildren, William, Sophia, Oaklyn, Nizar, Caroline, Gracelyn, and expecting a new great granddaughter. Also surviving is his sister, Margie “Sis” Thompson and brother, Jerry Edwards (Ann).
