William “Bill” Elwood Thompson, 75, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at High Point Medical Center.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at George Brothers Funeral Service with military honors being presented at 11:00 am by Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Foster Thompson; brother, Guy Thompson; and sister, Sandy Farlow.
Bill was an avid NASCAR fan, loved riding his golf cart around, pitching horseshoes in his younger days, and loving on his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was an Army veteran and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Murrell (Heath), of Gibsonville; daughter, Stephanie Knight, of Randleman; grandchildren, Taylor (Hannah), Kendall, Cameron (fiancé, Kenzi) , and Keaton; great-grandchildren (with one on the way), Braden, Blakelee, Keegan, Montgomery, and Silas (with Ryder on the way); and a host of family members and friends whom he loved.
