William "Bill" Russell Young, Sr.

Mr. William “Bill” Young, Sr., age 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday June 10, 2018 at his residence.

A funeral service will be 1:00pm Wednesday at Good Shepherd Church, 4453 Sumner Church Rd. Greensboro, NC 27406.  Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park with military honors provided by Randolph County Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm Tuesday at George Brothers Funeral Service.

Bill was born in Alamance county to the late Rev. Sherman and Rebecca Reavis Young. He was the owner of Gene’s Barber Shop.  He was a member of Good Shepherd Church, and served his country honorable and faithfully in the United States Army, from 1952-1954, while in the Korean War.

He was a dedicated Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  Bill was a strong man of faith and a soul winner. He loved his profession as a barber, and all the people he met along the way.  He loved his church, the mountains, camping, gardening, reading, and was an avid Wake Forest fan. He also loved taking his grandchildren to the beach. He left an example for all of us, that we can all aspire to be.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Jo Nolf and Bobbie Young.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Patricia “Pat” Young; children Rev. Bill Young, Jr. (Dianne), Darrell Young (Faye) , and Cindy Young (Mike); grandchildren Billy Young, III (Anne), Brad Young (Janet), Becky Seamans (Marty), Danielle Spradling (Jason), Brent Young (Megan), Amanda Miller (David),  L’erin Krites, and Amanda Krites; sister Polly Simpson (Earl).  Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren.
