I had the pleasure of working with Gongshu Zhang at the Central office for Guilford County Schools and was saddened to hear of his passing. He was always a pleasure to talk to. I am sorry for your loss.

Gongshu was a great teacher and researcher with the ability to explain complex connected events in simple understandable ways. He was a good friend that helped me understand how data could really improve how we approach each student’s needs. Unfortunately for all of us, there are not many people with his skills. He will be missed.

A great soul has departed, but the memories shall never fade. We share your pain and sorrow. We are always there with you. May the soul that has gone, rest blissfully in the garden and heaven.

I worked with Gongshu for several years at the NC Department od Public Instrucrion in Raleigh, NC. He assisted me a great deal in understanding and presenting data so that we might address the issue of the academic achievement gap. He was one of the most intellectual persons I have encountered. He made data understandable and meaningful to non-educators. Gongshu was gifted and he used that God-given ability to help others and not to promote himself. He demonstrated true Christian values in the workplace.
