Mrs. Lucile Gragg Beaman, age 83, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at Clapp’s Nursing Center surrounded by her family.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, with Reverend Paul McClure officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Lucile was born June 6, 1932, in Pinehurst, NC.  She attended first and second grade at Farmer Grammar School prior to attending and graduating from Sumner High School as valedictorian in 1950.  She graduated from Lees-McRae College with a chemistry degree in 1952.  Lucile was voted Alumni of the Year in 1975.  She attended Watts Hospital in Durham, earning a degree in medical technology in 1954.  Lucile filled in for several doctors’ offices as a medical technologist, serving 10 years with Dr. Brooks Gilmore at the Gilmore Clinic before retiring.  In the 1970’s, Lucile served as a Girl Scout leader in southeast Guilford county.  Lucile did extensive genealogy work on the Hamilton, Beaman, Kearns, and Hoover clans.  She also enjoyed bridge all of her adult life.  She was a longtime member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church and a member of the Dittie Gray Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents E.K. Gragg and Polly Kearns Gragg; brother William (Bill) Gragg.

Lucile is survived by her husband Dalton J. Beaman, daughters Celia B. Kiser (Mike) and Susan B. Wells (Bobby Davis); granddaughters Alison W. Martin (Jacob) of Memphis, TN, and Abbey M. Wells of Austin, TX.; brother George Gragg of Show Low, AZ.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at George Brothers Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rehobeth United Methodist Church Family Life Center at 4475 Rehobeth Church Rd., Greensboro, NC 27406.
