Pastor J. Wayne Wright

Pastor J. Wayne Wright, age 67, went home to his Heavenly Father Monday October 17, 2016 at Beacon Place.

A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday at McConnell Road Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Oates and Rev. Michael Mabe officiating the service. Burial will follow  in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends 12:00-1:30pm Thursday at the church.

A “Hero of the Faith”, Pastor Wright served his Lord and Savior faithfully for many years. A 1971 graduate of Bob Jones University, he served as the Associate Pastor of Church Street Baptist Church under the ministry of Rev. Billy Kanoy, he was the Dean of Greensboro Bible Institute for many years, a former Principal of Vandalia Christian School, has served as Pastor of McConnell Road Baptist Church for the past 26 years, and was a pastor to everyone he met down through the years.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathryn Wright of Greensboro, children Heath Wright and wife Joy of Roanoke, Va., Autumn Gaydon and husband Gary of Greensboro, and Benjamin Wright and wife Meredith of Kernersville. He loved and adored his grandchildren Jeremiah, Joshua, Gideon, Sarah, Leah Kathryn, and Jude.   Also surviving are two sisters Gloria Wakefield of Walkertown, and Lisa Wright of Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to McConnell Road Baptist Church, 3911 McConnell Rd. Greensboro, NC 27406.
