Violet Hodgin Rayle passed away Monday April 24, 2017, at the age of 62, in Greensboro, NC.

Born on December 24, 1954, Violet was a native of Guilford county, the daughter of Frances Davis Hodgin and Everett “EC” Hodgin. She was a graduate of Southern Guilford High School, class of 1973.

She was a devoted employee of Atlantic Coast Toyota Forklift for 21 years.

A life-long member of Concord Friends Meeting House, Violet served as the monthly meeting clerk and nursery attendant, and she chaired many committees including the fundraiser for the Family Life Center building.  Violet’s gift with flowers and decorations at the church were well known and enjoyed by all her fellow members.  “Violet’s Blossoms”, as her flower arranging business was known, adorned many weddings, tablescapes, and front porches throughout Greensboro. 

Violet was devoted to her four children and nine grandchildren and was a constant presence at ball fields, dance practices, and various assemblies and awards ceremonies.

She was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her children Jerry “Bug” McBride and his wife Jennifer of Woodstock, GA; Jason McBride his wife Mickie of Greensboro, NC; Jennifer Pegram and her husband Leon of Greensboro, NC; and Jeremy McBride of Greensboro, NC. Surviving sisters are: June Cox, Betty Carter and her husband Richard, and Juanita Best. Her loving presence is missed by nine grandchildren and five nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, April 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at George Brothers Funeral Home, 803 Greenhaven Drive, Greensboro.  A celebration of life will be held at Concord Friends Meeting House on Friday, April 28 at 11:00 AM.

In the meantime, the family will receive visitors at the home of Juanita Best.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Quaker Lake Camp Fund, c/o Concord Friends.
