Mrs. Dorothy Lucas Welborn

Mrs. Dorothy Lucas Welborn, age 86, passed away in the home she was born in, on Monday January 4, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

A memorial service will be 12:00 noon on Monday , February 1, at Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon prior to the service.

Mrs. Welborn was born on May 9, 1929 to the late Jesse and Jessie Lucas.  She was a lifelong member of Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years D.E. “Bobby” Welborn; sisters Grace Lucas Lewis and Louise Crowder Jones.

She is survived by her children Karen Martin (Billy) of Brown Summit, and Ed Welborn (Melodie) of Greensboro; Also surviving are three grandchildren Phillip Bass (J), Jesse Welborn (Laura), and Rebecca Welborn; one great grandchild, Lucas Brock Bass, nephew Bruce Lewis (Karen); great nephew Garrett Lewis (Mandi).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church, General Fund, 2303 Lee’s Chapel Rd. Greensboro, NC  27405.
